The Coalition for Integrity and Accountability (AMAN), in partnership with the Local Communities Organization and the RASED Palestine Coalition, launched the 2026 100-Day Campaign to Hold Palestinian Local Authorities Accountable at the headquarters of Wattan Media Network in Ramallah. The launch was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Local Government, the Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA), the RASED Palestine Coalition, the heads and representatives of the 10 local authorities participating in the campaign, social accountability committees, civil society organizations, a number of young community activists, and the media.
The campaign seeks to empower citizens to monitor the performance of elected local authorities during the initial stage of their term and hold them accountable for the extent to which they incorporate their election promises into their work plans and respond to citizens’ needs. The campaign focuses on monitoring the equitable distribution of services, transparency in decision-making, access to information on local plans and priorities, and local authorities’ responsiveness to citizens’ feedback and complaints, helping ensure that services reach all groups without discrimination or exclusion.
AMAN Operations Director Hama Zeidan delivered remarks emphasizing the need to entrench the values of integrity, the principles of transparency, and accountability systems in the work of local authorities. She also highlighted the importance of strengthening the role of citizens and civil society organizations in overseeing the management of public resources, monitoring the level of services provided, and assessing responsiveness to the needs of local communities.
Speaking on behalf of the Local Communities Organization, Board Member Abdallah Jarrar welcomed the participants and said the campaign represents a field-based approach built on listening, monitoring, documentation, dialogue, and follow-up, with the aim of strengthening citizen participation in evaluating services and following up on election promises and local plans. He explained that the campaign program will involve working with 10 local authorities, activating existing social accountability committees and establishing new ones, implementing dialogue and accountability initiatives and activities, collecting citizens’ feedback, and documenting local authorities’ responses.
The campaign is part of the partnership program between AMAN and the Local Communities Organization, which aims to strengthen integrity systems, combat corruption, and increase community oversight of the delivery of essential services to citizens. It seeks to build a grassroots community base capable of engaging in anti-corruption initiatives and strengthening social accountability in the delivery of essential public services.
