Ramallah – Of all 70 international initiatives, the Coalition for Accountability and Integrity (AMAN) won the European Union’s global competition CivicTech4Democracy. AMAN was awarded for its initiative to use technology and popular social media platforms to promote the values of integrity, principles of transparency, and systems of community accountability. The initiative seeks to ensure promotion of best practice in good governance and advancement of democracy.
AMAN decided to stand as candidate representing Palestine on the global stage. Having established its national identity both locally and regionally, AMAN is a civil society organisation that works towards combating corruption and promoting integrity, transparency and accountability in the Palestinian society. AMAN is the only Palestinian actor with full membership of Transparency International.
AMAN has launched its online campaign Boost Integrity Block Corruption and participated in the CivicTech4Democracy global competition. The campaign has been designed to promote a state-of-the-art use of digital media tools to increase the number of corruption reporters and reflect citizens’ rejection of involvement in any form of corruption.
AMAN issued a statement, expressing deep gratitude and appreciation to all those who voted for Palestine and for public trust and confidence in the Coalition. This achievement demonstrates AMAN’s capability of exerting influence and change in society. AMAN also expressed sincere gratitude to all its local and international partners, friends, supporters from the public and private sectors, and everyone who has contributed to boosting the status of Palestine locally, regionally and internationally.
