The Coalition for Accountability and Integrity AMAN Congratulates Palestine for Joining the International Criminal Police Organization “INTERPOL” and Calling for Asset Recovery

The Coalition for Accountability and Integrity AMAN  appraises in its report, issued on Saturday, Sep.30th 2017, the Palestinian efforts that led to the joining of Palestine to the International Criminal Police Organization INTERPOL, especially that it meets one of the main shortfalls related to the implementation of the United  Nations Convention against corruption by the State of  Palestine.

AMAN has pointed out that in 2015, when the report of the State of  Palestine over the UN convention for Anti Corruption was presented, especially regarding international coopertion, mentioning specific challenges in coopertaion regarding the law enforcement, that Palestine does not have access to (1-24) INTERPOL’s secure network. The main recommendation of AMAN’s report is that “ Palestine should seek to establish and strengthen networks with foreign law enforcement authorities, organizations, and competent bodies”.

Moreover, AMAN emphasized that joining the INTERPOL is an important step for Palestine in assets recovery and preventing corrupt impunity as a part of law and order enforcement, from one hand, and implementing the UN convention against corruption through International Coopertion on the other.

Welcoming this step in open arms, AMAN has called on the Palestinian Official Authorities to use it properly to prevent corrupt impunity without discrimination, and to benefit from the INTERPOL’s data, and to dedicate this mean to gain the world’s confidence in Palestine as an independent Palestinian State, and present our ability to be serious partners in combating cross-border crimes, foremost of which is corruption crimes.
