Ramallah - The Coalition for Integrity and Accountability (AMAN) condemns and denunciates the U.S. administration's decision to impose sanctions on three Palestinian human rights organizations: Al-Mezan Center for Human Rights in Gaza, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights in Gaza, and "Al-Haq" organization – Defending Human Rights.
The AMAN Coalition views this arbitrary decision as an attempt to silence human rights voices that work on monitoring and documenting the Israeli occupation's crimes against our Palestinian people, seeking to hold it accountable and bring it to justice according to international law. The decision also further allows the Israeli occupation and its officials to evade punishment for their ongoing crimes of genocide in the Gaza Strip.
The decision of the U.S. administration to impose these sanctions on Palestinian human rights institutions that operate in accordance with Palestinian law and international covenants indicates a blatant bias in favor of the Israeli occupier, making it a collaborator in the genocidal war being waged against the Palestinian people. That move also contradicts the principles of equality, justice, and fairness preserved and protected by international laws, and, in fact, by the American Constitution of 1789 and its amendments.
The AMAN Coalition is asking for these unfair sanctions to be canceled and is urging regional and international organizations to oppose and criticize the U.S. government's decision and to apply pressure to make it retract its decision. It is also asking international human rights organizations worldwide to support the work of these local institutions and include them in their human rights deliberations everywhere.
