Gaza – Amidst the catastrophic and unprecedented conditions in the Gaza Strip as a result of the ongoing genocide, and despite the absence of the most basic necessities of life, the Aman Coalition team continues its efforts to promote integrity and governance within shelters, in partnership with the Family Development Association.
Aman is working to develop effective mechanisms for receiving and processing complaints, in coordination with those in charge of managing aid distribution sites, local management committees, and volunteer teams, with the aim of ensuring a minimum level of organization and fairness in the provision of services, despite the enormous humanitarian and logistical challenges.
The coalition also oversees the preparation of a code of conduct governing the work of shelter site staff to promote discipline and integrity and regulate the roles and responsibilities of both committees and volunteers, ensuring a safer environment that respects the rights of displaced persons.
To support governance in relief operations, Aman is also developing a simplified guide for aid distribution that takes into account emergency conditions and helps to regulate distribution processes, avoid duplication or exclusion, and strengthen the confidence of displaced persons in local management within shelters.
These efforts are part of a broader framework led by the Aman Coalition and its partners to ward off the risks of corruption by coordinating a community-based emergency response that is transparent and accountable, and aims to protect public resources and ensure fairness in the delivery of aid in one of the largest humanitarian disasters.
