The Civil Society Team for Enhancing Public Budget Transparency demands that the Governmental Action Committee in Gaza Strip engages the civil society in discussing and developing the 2023 General Budget before adoption
Gaza- The Civil Society Team for Enhancing Public Budget Transparency (CSTPBT) demanded that the Governmental Action Committee in Gaza Strip and other stakeholders engage the civil society, particularly CSTPBT, in discussing and developing the 2023 General Budget before adoption. This is in line with the 2022-2024 Development Plan that the Governmental Action Committee launched, in which the goals included enhancing good governance, participatory approach and cooperation with the civil society to improve the quality of services and optimize the public interests.
In a letter addressed to the stakeholders, CSTPBT called for a participatory meeting with the Governmental Action Committee, the Budget committee, the Financial Affairs Committee and the Ministry of Finance in the Strip, to obtain more information about and discuss the proposed budget, and examine how well it meets the current challenges. The Team stressed the importance of adopting a participatory approach in managing public money, as this contributes to harmonizing all efforts and submitting recommendations that promote developing and implementing public policies that meet the citizens’ priorities and concerns.
