Within the series of raising awareness activities and capacity development for Palestinian youth in partner with coalition for accountability and integrity (AMAN) and in cooperate with Watan news network, Roles for Social Change Association - ADWAR held up the first meeting from the training workshops meetings which related to social accountability mechanisms for decision makers in Gender issues in presence of universities students and new graduates .
The meeting starts by welcoming the attended by Mrs Sahar Yousef Alkawasmeh and talking about the workshop aims which represented by raising the trainers awareness level about Gender concept and its roles and needs, also raising their awareness about the importance of adopting young needs while accountable the decision makers in addition to asking a set of questions that related to the employment mechanism in government agencies , over the competencies agree with the nature of available jobs and dilemmas that applicants faces them for jobs such as intermediary and favoritism.
The meeting also included a discussion about the differences between men and women and about women’s abilities to do various tasks regarding raising a family. In addition, the discussion talked about the patriarchal tone in school books which demotivated girls from learning.
Gender role and financial effects upon women were also topics of the discussion. Likewise, women’s work and their contribution in the communal activities were discussed as women are a major element of the society.
The meeting was concluded with a discussion about women’s participation in the political field and their being the decision makers in the associations and ministries of the state, and the influence of the political parties over women’s involvement in politics and enabling women in accountability mechanisms.
