Within activities of “My Right to Know”; implemented by Al-Hayat Center for Civil Society Development and in partnership with the Coalition for Integrity and Accountability-AMAN, radio spots aiming at raising awareness among the public on anti-corruption issues, are being recorded and aired. The spots also aim to promote social accountability within the Palestinian society and will be broadcasted in the near future on local stations. By using radio spots, AMAN and Al-Hayat hope to integrate the local media in the fight against corruption, especially in shaping public opinion against corruption.
The spots will focus on achieving the goal of the initiative, which is to raise public awareness about the importance of having the right to access to information law especially in promoting transparency and accountability in public institutions. The spots will also aim to activate social accountability in the Palestinian society as well as to suggest constructive and fruitful ideas to the public by encouraging them to engage in activities and events that zero-in on corruption and the corrupt in the Palestinian society.
Mr.Kayed Tanbour, coordinator of the initiative, said that the initiative aims to engage local media outlets in combating corruption by utilizing radio advertising space to raise public awareness on the subject as well as to pressure towards promoting values of integrity, principles of transparency and systems of accountability in the Palestinian public institutions.
Aiming to reach the largest number of stakeholders as possible, the mentioned radio spots will be broadcasted on Hayat FM, and Kufiyah FM. In addition, the spots will also be available on YouTube as well as on the various social media means.
