ANTICORRUPTION EFFORTS AND CIVILIAN LIFE DISRUPTED IN PALESTINE

The Coalition for Accountability & Integrity (AMAN), Transparency International’s national chapter in Palestine, condemns the Israeli incursions on the civilian population in the Gaza Strip and demands all international bodies advocate for a ceasefire.

The deteriorating security situation has disrupted daily life including development activities, humanitarian efforts, business transactions and the anticorruption projects of our office in Gaza, where the adjacent building was destroyed. Our Gaza- based staff is living under the duress of difficult circumstances; a staff member was forced to evacuate her home to another suburb in Gaza after it was completely destroyed.

All of AMAN’s planned activities have completely ceased since 8 July. The continuous assault is threatening civilian lives and the number of victims has totalled more than 738 dead and more than 4,620 wounded as well as 3,000 homes destroyed.
