Ramallah/Gaza: The Civil Team for Monitoring and Accountability on the Jenin Reconstruction Process was launched. It consists of a coalition of civil society organizations in Jenin Governorate, which works as a civil body, in partnership and cooperation with the Independent Commission for Human Rights and the Coalition for Accountability and Integrity "AMAN". The team seeks to contribute to promoting the values of integrity and principles of transparency and accountability in the distribution of humanitarian aid in Jenin Governorate, and to ensure integrity, justice and transparency in the reconstruction of the city and camp of Jenin, subsequent to the last (3 July, 2023) of many preceding Israeli military brutal assaults
The team aims to monitor and hold accountable the mechanisms of aid distribution, to guarantee access to those who deserve it, and the general reconstruction operation in Jenin. Its goal is to ensure the integrity and fairness of the rebuilding and the assistance provided to those affected by the constant aggression of the Israeli occupation, and in the overall disastrous situation in Jenin Governorate. This shall be done in a way that achieves people's satisfaction, maintains civil peace and enhances citizens' confidence in the authorities in charge of managing aid and reconstruction, mainly through empowerment and capacity building, and by keenly monitoring the application of the principles of integrity and accountability in the process, and then preparing and publishing reports of the findings.
Among the participating institutions are the PNGO Network, Local Communities, the Teacher Creativity Center, AlMajd for Community Development, the Najdeh Association, the Jenin Society for Almkhliseen, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights, and several independent personalities. This collaborative effort is supported by the Independent Commission and Aman Coalition for Integrity and Accountability.
The Civil Society Team welcomes the addition of other civil society organizations that wish to join it in this endeavor, provided that they are independent and registered, and that their scope and place of work are in Jenin Governorate, and that they are effective in their undertakings as delineated in the objectives for which they were established.
