The Coalition for
Integrity and Accountability - AMAN strongly condemns the
assassination attempt against the Attorney-General Mr. Ahmed Al-
Moughany that took place on 8 July. The attempt represents a grave
infringement of the rule of law, and of the independency and esteem
of the judiciary authority. It is an attempt to influence the course
of the investigation currently conducted regarding a number of
corruption files by intimidating and pressuring the Attorney General
to put an end to the investigation, and refrain from bringing the
accused to justice.
We call upon the
concerned authorities to investigate the assassination attempt and
to bring the perpetrators to justice as soon as possible.
In the meantime,
we hope that Mr. Al- Moughany will not stop his stirring efforts
that serve Palestine and the Palestinian citizens.
