The
Coalition for Accountability and Integrity -Aman has recently been
selected as one of the best twenty NGOs in the Arab World during
“Alexandria contest” which was organized by the Arab Reform Forum of
Alexandria library in Egypt. The contest aimed at activating the role of
reform and development in the Arab communities as the screened
nominations presented for the forum contained details about the
achievements of each institution on both the international and local
levels. Additionally, details included the role of each institution in
developing communities they are operating in and the extent to which
each is fulfilling the mission it pursues. The contest was organized
under the supervision of Dr. Ismail Siraj el-Deen, manager of Alexandria
Library.
Ms. Ghada Zghayyar,
Aman’s Executive Director said that getting this gratitude after few
months of winning the Welfare Association Award for 2008 is a great
pride for all of us and all the NGOs in Palestine. It distinguishes the
Coalition’s achievements, development and impact on both the local and
Arab levels in spreading a culture that rejects corruption and calls for
reform and builds up and enforces integrity in the Palestinian society.
“Winning these awards
increases our confidence and belief in the mission that the Coalition
was founded to accomplish. They also serve as incentives to drive our
work forward despite the challenges that we face in this field which
would encounter some resisting parties who benefit from weak oversight
and accountability” Ms. Zghayyar added.
It is worthy of noting
that the Coalition has previously received the Welfare Association
Achievement Award – 2008 (the Late Abdul Aziz Shakhshir Award). The
achievement award recognizes Palestinian NGOs that made distinctive
achievements in areas for operation and services in the West Bank
including Jerusalem, Gaza and Lands of 48 and in Palestinian refugee
camps in Lebanon.
Receiving this Award
crowns the Coalition’s number of achievements and successes obtained
during a decade of fighting corruption through raising awareness and
educating the Palestinian people with the basic principles of integrity,
transparency and accountability in order to contain this phenomenon.
Further activities included conducting various researches, Draft Laws,
Codes of Conduct , programs and activities, diagnostic studies and
accountability sessions about the integrity system in Palestinian
working sectors.
