Calling the PLC Members to adopt laws to limit the phenomenon of smuggling the money which were taken illegally

 3/3/2006

Private sector Specialists called the new elected PLC, to adopt laws to limit the phenomenon of smuggling the money which were taken through illegal activities.

They recommended, to stop the rumors that are spread in public, after the Attorney General has declared that there are corruption files which affect the national economy negatively.

This issue was raised up through a workshop which was prepared by the coalition for Accountability and integrity (AMAN), under the name of "Limitation of the stolen money smuggling through illegal activities and the procedures of its restoration".

The local private sector has a big responsibility in supporting the reform efforts in the Palestinian territories. Its responsibility is considered big in limiting corruption at different levels. And this is due to the weakness of the legislative supervision and specifically on the private sector.

They also recommended the necessity for international cooperation, based on organizing the howabouts in dealing with the corruption phenomenon. And to issue a law to organize the procedure of perusing those who have anything to do with different corruption cases.

And it was indicated that there are two international agreements signed by all United Nations country members' countries, pointing out that Palestine is not a state yet, so these agreements do not apply in the case of "Palestine".

They added that none of the Arab countries signed these agreements. So there are no international agreements that the Foreign affairs Ministry can use. And the Arab league does not have any signed agreement that Palestine can use as a state. And the only option which the Palestinian Authority has, is to sign bilateral agreements to exchange criminals, pointing out that these agreements will not be obligatory.
