AMAN Coalition Participates in the Kuwaiti Transparency Conference and Signs a Cooperation Protocol with the Kuwaiti Transparency Association

15/01/2007

In a conference organized by the Kuwaiti Transparency Association, in cooperation with Transparency International, participants agreed that the spread of corruption in the region has detrimental affects on all prospects of development in the area and stability of the different states. They also stressed the importance of a shared responsibility for combating corruption by the different sectors of society.

AMAN Coalition (Transparency Palestine) had participated in the conference represented by its General Coordinator; Dr. Azmi Shuaibi who presented a paper entitled “The Viability of the Right to Information Act”. The paper spoke of the importance of ensuring free access to information to the public as a means for curbing corruption. It also showed the risks that arise from obstructing citizens from accessing information and highlighted the role played by the media in exposing it.
