A
Meeting Organized by AMAN to Discuss the Importance of
Adopting a Transparent and Accountable Institutional
Framework for the Register of Wall Damage

A
group of political elites, representatives of
governmental and civil society organizations as well as
PLC members had raised concerns regarding the latest UN
decision that called for registry of damage caused by
the wall. After stressing the illegality of the wall,
they said that any registry of damage caused by the act
of building the wall should be handled by a reference
institutional body that would be responsible for putting
down and implementing clear and transparent mechanisms.
They also called on the PNA to secure the necessary
funding for attracting legal and economic expertise
needed for building the institutional capacity of the
body that would be assigned the responsibility for
following up this file.
AMAN, a
coalition that works on promoting transparency,
accountability, and integrity and combating corruption
within the Palestinian society had organized this
session in order to raise public awareness towards
previous compensation experiences that showed corruption
cases. AMAN indicates the importance of setting
professional standards that would prohibit the abuse of
this case and the spread of corruption with all its
forms. An institutional framework for the registry of
damage should be identified by the President of the PLO
as it is the body mandated to deal with such files at
the international level.
