The project aims at enhancing good and efficient
corporate governance at private sector
institutions. It focuses on developing an
anti-corruption code of conduct that would
control the relationship between organizations
of the private sector, local society, public
sector and others. It also aims at raising
public awareness towards the role played by the
private sector in the battle against corruption.
In order to reach at the objectives of the
program, a series of activities will be
implemented. The Project will be put into
practice by one the founding members of AMAN
Coalition; the Palestinian Trade Center PALTRADE
and will be supervised by AMAN Coalition itself.
Goal:
Strengthening
corporate governance through promoting values of
integrity and systems of transparency and
accountability at the private sector.
Objectives:
1- Raising the public’s awareness towards the
role of the private sector in combating
corruption in the Palestinian society.
2- Adopting an anti-corruption code of
conduct that would regulate the relationship
between organizations of the private sectors,
local society, public sector and others.
3- Creating a culture among private sector
employees, realizing the importance of ethical
behavior and adherence to professional standards
in combating corruption at private sector
organizations.
4- Strengthening the values of integrity and
professionalism in the work of private sector
institutions.
Project Outcomes:
1-
Developing media channels and reaching at a
culture of transparency in providing full and
accurate information to investors. Allowing
investors to participate in policy formulation
and amendments through holding regular meetings
and involving them in the voting process as a
means of ensuring and facilitating their
participation in decision making.
2-
Raising the public’s knowledge about corruption
and its practices at the private sector and ways
for combating it through holding a media
campaign that includes TV spots, flyers,
brochures, and through implementing a series of
specialized lectures and workshops on the topic.
3-
Adopting the best practice manual and
anti-corruption code of a conduct by private
sector institutions as a means for ensuring
private sector institutions’ compliance with
principles of good governance.
4-
Opening a dialogue between the private and
public sectors as a basis for a national
economic dialogue program and organizing a
national annual conference on “promoting good
governance at private sector institutions”.
5-
Production of an annual report by ethics
commissioners that documents all violations of
the anti-corruption code of conduct.
6-
Exerting pressure towards anti-corruption and
good governance legislations and ratifications.
Committing to the UN Convention against
Corruption through signing a Memorandum of
Understanding by private sector institutions for
this purpose
